What is Real Food?
You almost can’t talk about real food without hearing the name Weston A. Price brought up. Heck, there is a whole foundation named after him! A Cleveland dentist, Dr. Price traveled the world during the 1930’s studying the robust health of traditional cultures. He attributed the amazing health, perfect teeth and bone structure to the traditional diet eaten by these groups. Dr. Price discovered that all these groups ate some form of animal products and that when they chose to eat grains, they only did so after carefully preparing them by fermentation and/or soaking to make them digestible. When these people groups switched to a modern diet of refined grains, sugar and processed vegetable oils, their health declined as evidenced by dental caries, poor bone structure and other health problems.
Although some consider the work of Dr. Price to be controversial, really it’s just common sense. Eat foods in their original form (not processed), include healthy animal foods such as grass-fed, free range, and wild caught meat, poultry and fish as well as raw milk and butter. Fruits. Veggies. Nuts. Seeds. Healthy Fats. These are the foods that have nourished man kind for thousands of years and will continue to do so if we will just let them!
