A Simple Technique for Soft Skin

IR8nDBZETv6aM6HdJ7RD_IMG_5784I love doing the whole all natural, homemade, DIY, little-house-on-the-prairie thing.  At the same time, I don’t do complicated. I know myself well enough to know that if something isn’t relatively easy and quick, it’s probably not gonna happen. I have a feeling you share my sentiment 🙂

Here is one super simple way to have soft, smooth skin. This is so simple, in fact, I bet you’ve tried this before. But it’s also simple enough that I bet you kinda forgot all about it and maybe you haven’t done this in years.

Honey Face Wash

Ok, pay attention so you don’t mess this up 😉

Step 1- Open jar of honey

Step 2- Place about one tablespoon of honey on fingertips

Step 3- Massage honey onto face

Step 4- Wash honey off. Enjoy soft, silky skin!
Yep, it’s that easy. Yet, so amazing! You can leave the honey on for as long as you want, 2 minutes or 15 minutes. Although, if you leave it on for more than 2 minutes, technically it becomes a face mask and not a face wash. And since we’re on the topic of face wash, this one is great for moisturizing but it’s not super cleansing- it’s best done in the morning before you hop in the shower or on a day when you aren’t wearing any makeup.

Why Your Skin Loves Honey

By the way, when I say honey, I mean raw, unfiltered honey. The honey you buy at your local grocery store is filtered, heated, and adulterated, killing all the beneficial enzymes and microbiota that make honey so good for you and for your skin. You want those enzymes and beneficial bacteria!  Your skin loves them, so don’t try to go cheap here- stick with the real deal.

Since this is sooo easy, let’s try something a little more exciting, shall we? Let’s ramp up the moisturizing factor a few notches. I don’t know about you, but winter kinda sucks the life out of my skin like a leech, leaving my skin flaky, dull and sad.  It’s really not pretty.  And while the honey face mask does help soften things up a bit, it’s no match for Old Man Winter. So, I did a little research, some testing in my lab (kitchen), and came up with this moisturizing face mask for your consideration.

Moisturizing Face Mask

Here’s what you need:

1/4 of a ripe avocado, mashed

1 T honey

1 tsp olive oil

Here’s what you do:

Place your mask ingredients in a small bowl and stir to combine. Use fingers to spread mask on clean face. Leave on for 15 minutes. Rinse off and apply moisturizer. Stand in front of the mirror, admiring you soft, smooth skin! You’re beautiful!!

See, how easy that was!

Since we are talking au natural skin care here, I’ve got some awesome DIY natural moisturizers to share with you soon! In fact, I have a lot of fun content in the works!  I’m super excited about it and hope you are too!
